Maji

The MAJI Clothing line was Mario "Maji" Melendez's first love. He remembers a fog being lifted from his eyes at the suggestion of starting a clothing company based off of his designs. Melendez spent the majority of his free time in high school doodling and conceptualizing designs and considers himself first and foremost a designer. MAJI designs were originally sold at fine retail establishments in Southern California and combined the concept of a contemporary men's street line with a Latin influence. Featuring indigenous motifs and Mayan art, the company maintained its focus on quality clothing. Melendez opened MAJI by Mario Melendez in the arts district of Santa Ana before selling the company in 2001. MAJI clothing took the region by storm and captivated readers with Melendez's story and distinctive designs.
